Sáng HI kingwaas, (Anthony "Tony" (Peele) Christianson) is Haida, from Hydaburg, Alaska. He is Raven Double Fin Killer Whale and Brown Bear, and his Haida name is Sáng HI kíngwaas, which means “weather watcher”.
Tony has over 22 years of tribal work experience with the Hydaburg Cooperative Association where he served as the Natural Resource Director for 20 years. He also served as the mayor of the City of Hydaburg for over 18 years, working on infrastructure development and providing essential services to the residents. Tony was also on the board of Office of Subsistence Management USFWS for eight years, with three years as a rural member and five years as board chair.
Tony loves to hunt and fish to provide for his community, is dedicated to public service, and enjoys seeing our people thrive.
